How Our Program Works
At Narratives, we believe society thrives when everyone has the opportunity to contribute. Young adults want to play a meaningful role in their communities, yet they often need guidance, resources, and connection to reach their full potential. Guided by our Purpose to champion the mental health of young adults, we create a supportive environment where they can flourish, develop genuine relationships, and build foundations for long-term success.
Instead of offering a short-term fix or even a “hand-up,” we foster a space that encourages personal growth and empowers young adults to discover who they are and what they can achieve. Our trained life coaches provide individualized support tailored to each participant’s strengths, challenges, and goals. In addition, community mentors extend this guidance—teaching life skills, modeling healthy relationships, and equipping young adults to thrive in their families, neighborhoods, and broader society.
For those navigating mental health concerns, addiction, and trauma, Narratives helps uncover adaptive strategies that ensure mental illness does not hinder their future. Combined with coaching and mentorship, mental health support catalyzes deeper, more transformative change than any single intervention could achieve alone.
We also offer group classes on critical life skills—money management, cooking, employment coaching, study strategies, and more—in a safe, inclusive setting. Monthly family dinners bring everyone together for a shared meal, reinforcing relational bonds, celebrating achievements, and practicing essential life and social skills in a welcoming community context.
Young adults we serve:
Any young adult needing assistance in making the transition from youth well
In particular, youth who have “aged out” of foster care or youth services
Young adults who lack social capital – supportive relationships that provide guidance
Young adults struggling to balance mental health issues with the tasks of daily adult living
Any young adult needing assistance to successfully make the transition from youth to adulthood
Did you know that for $50/month you can help a young adult who would otherwise not be able to afford services continue their education, learn valuable and healthy life skills, improve relationships, and achieve their dreams?
An Ally for Young Adults
